Modern Wedding Cakes and Tiramisu Tables: Choosing the Right Wedding Dessert for an Ibiza Wedding

If you've been browsing Pinterest recently, you've probably noticed two wedding dessert trends appearing everywhere: modern textured wedding cakes and large-format tiramisu presentations.

Pinterest makes it easy to fall in love with a wedding cake.

What is much harder is imagining how that cake will actually feel within your wedding.

A beautiful cake photographed on its own can look completely different once it's placed within a real celebration, surrounded by architecture, flowers, tablescapes, fashion and guests.

In this editorial created by About Summer Ibiza, two very different dessert concepts were incorporated into the overall styling, demonstrating how dessert can help shape the atmosphere of a celebration.

Modern Wedding Cakes: Sculptural and Editorial

One of the concepts featured a modern textured buttercream wedding cake, designed to complement the contemporary styling envisioned by About Summer Ibiza.

Set against the beautiful stone architecture of Safragell Hotel, the cake became part of a visual story built around texture, organic forms and understated elegance.

What immediately stood out was how the different design elements echoed one another.

What immediately stood out was how the different design elements echoed one another. The intricate lace details of the gown by Charo Ruiz Ibiza, the organic floral compositions by Flor del Mundo Ibiza and the textured buttercream finish of the cake all contributed to the same visual language. Together with the soft hair and make-up styling by Joelle Romita, every detail contributed to the same sense of understated elegance.

Even the dining setup followed the same design language. Natural stone elements incorporated into the tablescape reflected the surrounding walls of the venue, while the printed stationery designed by About Summer Ibiza and produced by Print Xpress Ibiza added another subtle layer of texture and detail.

Rather than becoming the centre of attention, the cake felt naturally connected to everything around it.

For couples planning a modern villa wedding in Ibiza, this is a beautiful example of how a wedding cake can become part of the overall aesthetic rather than simply a dessert waiting to be cut.

Beyond the tablescape itself, the editorial also explored how guests move through a wedding experience. The welcoming drinks station provided by Safragell Hotel echoed the same colour palette and relaxed sophistication seen throughout the styling, creating a seamless transition from arrival to celebration.

The Tiramisu Table: Relaxed, Social and Unexpected

The second concept explored a completely different atmosphere.

Instead of centring the experience around a traditional wedding cake, we incorporated a large-format tiramisu presentation into the dining experience itself.

At the heart of the concept was the mirrored dining table provided by Moods Ibiza, one of the most striking elements of the entire editorial.

Not only simply reflecting the surrounding landscape, the mirrored table transformed the styling into a multi-dimensional composition, enhancing the organic floral forms and creating an atmosphere of contemporary art.

The dramatic burgundy floral arrangements created by Flor del Mundo Ibiza combined with the mirrored table, tableware and styling elements provided by Moods Ibiza, added depth and contrast, transforming the table into an art installation.

Within this setting, the tiramisu wasn't treated as a separate dessert course.

Presented in a silver serving bowl and surrounded by reflective surfaces, seasonal fruit and sculptural florals, it became part of the tablescape itself.

Captured beautifully by Raw Material Ibiza and Mark Beijk Photography, the result felt playful, immersive and highly social.

This approach encourages guests to gather, share and interact around the table.

For destination weddings in Ibiza, where many couples prioritise atmosphere and guest experience over tradition, it's easy to understand why shared dessert presentations have become so popular.

It's Never Just About the Dessert

One of the reasons I enjoyed participating in this editorial as the cake designer is that it demonstrates something I often discuss with couples.

A wedding dessert never exists on its own.

The venue influences it.

The flowers influence it.

The styling influences it.

Even the stationery, the fashion and the way guests move through the space influence how a dessert feels within a wedding.

That's what makes this editorial by About Summer Ibiza so interesting.

The modern wedding cake and the shared tiramisu experience are both beautiful ideas, but each creates a completely different mood.

What makes them successful isn't that they're trending on Pinterest. It's that every element contributes to the same story.

The best wedding dessert is rarely the most popular one.

It's the one that feels naturally connected to your venue, your guests and the atmosphere you want your wedding day to have.
