2023 Ibiza Photography Workshop by Gypsy Westwood - Part 2: Participants' Works

Writer's picture: Tammy LinTammy Lin

"They are not just wedding photos, they are arts."

That's what I thought when I received the photos from Ibiza Photography Workshop.

I personally prefer photography that tells a story. Just like appreciating paintings in a gallery, what you see from a painting is not just the people and things, but the emotions behind it, and the sense of presence of time and space.

Speaking of which, I imagined a crazy idea, how amazing it would be if wedding photography could become an art exhibition. When I looked at these work, I was using my 21-inch iMac, and it was such a joy to see the work zoomed in on the screen.

Each of them is a professional photographer with their own style. Isn't this exciting? Below I share my beautiful feelings when admiring these works.

Welcome to the gallery, let's start the art journey.

This is one of my favourite. Vintage glassware is trendy in 2023 and will be even more popular in 2024. This photo shows the beauty and elegance of the dining moment.

Kissing under the sunset is too deliberate, casual kissing in the garden is the cool one. I love so much the waving leaves, as if we can feel the movement.

If you love classic photography as much as I do, here are some photos of the master. First of all, black and white photography is incredible work of art.

When in art school training, students must learn first sketch before they learn coloured painting. Because the "shades" build the picture. It containing shades of neutral grey ranging from black to white. It removes any distraction of color and helps the viewer focus on other aspects of the photo, such as the subject, the textures, shapes. That's why black and white photos can tell even more story.
